I am wondering what is bad about these and really what are there advateges overall. Thanx Guys

Base Engine:
Oil overfill
Cam timing
Cylinder compression
Exhaust leaks before or near the HO2S(s)
3 – P1443 – EVAP emission control system control valve malfunction (This one has been there for awhile)

Now while checking out the car I discovered a crack about 4 centimeters long just before the second sensor just after the catalyst Converter you can see light through it so definitely a big leak. Would that be the most likely cause for the P1132?
What about the P0135? Does that refer to the front O2 sensor in the exhaust manifold?
And would any of these codes possibly be related to why my radiator fan and Fuel pump are turning on when the car is shut down?
Also forgot to mention. Disconnected the O2 sensor (the one in the exhaust manifold) and the fan turned off. Plugged it back in and a clicked started under the air filter for a few seconds and the fan turned on instantly. When unplugged the fan went off again…

I know that it’s advisable to "bed" new pads, but I’ve encountered differing opinions as to how it should be done. Some say to drive the car and perform a bunch of gentle braking stops, increasing the pressure each time, eventually leading up to some hard brake applications. In other words, progressively harder braking to bed the pads to the discs.

Note: I have crossed-drilled/slotted rotors on all four corners.

Any comments and advice?[ffrocks]

This Spring I had to replace the spark plugs because I just couldn’t get it to start, even after killing an old battery. The plugs were wet and looked dark and sooty. To get it to start I reduced the cranking fuel plusewidth, but I am still having an issue where it takes multiple tries to get it started. When it does start it rumbles around 300 RPM for a couple seconds.

I reduced the Crank Fuel PW to what I though it should be based on the 50# injectors I have and then some more. Also, my IAC Duty is .99 during cranking.

Oh, and I have a Turbocharged Zetec Cougar w/ 8.5:1 CR built.

I was wondering what i would need to do, to install these on my 1990 ltd 302EFI. I realize the bolt holes are larger on the heads, Is there anything else I need to know? Also will my stock intake manifold work with these heads without fabrication, or will i have to get my mani planed?

High parasitic (no key) battery current drain. 240mA all the time.

The problem is battery dies when car isn’t used in more than a week. Not a problem if driven every day.

I measure battery current and found parasitic drain current to be 240mA or 0.24A of constant draw. The car spec on AlldataDIY is 50mA max.

I do have a remote start installed but I removed that and current only dropped about 10-15mA so not enough to matter.

I did leave the car for a couple hours thinking some of the logic circuit would drop in power over time as they fell into low power sleep modes. I didn’t happen. When you first connect battery current spike up to 1.5A and then drops to the 240mA about 30 seconds later (when radio display goes blank). It never goes low than this, even hours later.

I did find the current is on the two legs on the battery box served by fuse F19 and F21. If I pull both of these fuses the current falls to zero.

I am sure it isn’t leakage at the alternator as well. I disconnected the wire to the alternator thinking leaky diodes/rectifiers where the path of leaky current. It made no difference. There was no measureable leakage current through the alternator.

A few questions:

• Could AlldataDIY just have it wrong and the key off current really is 200-220mA for this car?
• The wiring diagrams are vague on AlldataDIY when it comes to the logic circuits. Its hard to say which lines should use how much current. Is there a way to get more detail and how my 200+ mA current should be broken down?
• The radio alone seems to be 70 mA by itself which is over the 50mA alone.

Any ideas or suggestions appreciated. Obviously this is a subtle problem because there isn’t an obvious or horrendous current drain. The next generation Ford Focus has been tested in some of the most extreme locations on the planet. It’s been thrashed over frozen lakes, hammered across the hottest deserts and driven overloaded up and down high Alpine passes to ensure impeccable reliability and dependability wherever it is sold.

While many of these tests focus on how such climate extremes affect the performance of the vehicle, the comfort of the driver and passengers in these tough conditions is equally important.

Ford’s climate control test team travels the world to ensure that the car’s EATC (Electronic Automatic Temperature Control) system can handle anything a customer can throw at it. From Finland to Spain, Italy to Arizona, the system needs to be able to cool the occupants down quickly and comfortably in scorching sun and warm them up just as rapidly when the temperature drops.

In next generation Focus, which is launched later this year, the EATC system cools occupants more comfortably and efficiently than ever before. The fans are quieter and are capable of moving cool air through the cabin more quickly. The team’s task is to fine-tune this system to ensure it is as comfortable, effective and efficient as possible, while ensuring it meets the varying needs of customers around the world.

One of the team’s regular testing locations is Antequera in Southern Spain. Known as the crossroads of Andalucia, the medieval town is set on a plain some 600 metres above sea level. Outside of summer, it is a rich, fertile area popular with history buffs who flock to the town to see some of Europe’s oldest and most important dolmens, or burial sites.

But in the height of summer, the area around Antequera is one of the hottest places in continental Western Europe, with temperatures regularly rising above 40 degrees Celsius. It is a parched, barren landscape, perfect for putting the next-generation Focus to the test.

Ford systems engineer Klaus Schuermanns is here for two weeks, driving up to 500km a day, six days a week. "We have two versions of the next generation Focus here," he explains. "We are doing a subjective and an objective evaluation of the EATC system in both cars so that we can finalise calibrations. We take all the data from the EATC and then we compare that with what we actually feel inside the car, as well as with objective data from the cabin, such as the breathing level temperature. We then make adjustments to fine tune the system."

"We have visited this area five or six times with different development programmes because it gives us everything we need. The weather conditions are consistently very good, there is very little wind, it’s easy to get here from Germany and there are also some mountains near here where we can climb and experience temperature changes of 10 to 15 degrees."

Today, the team is testing two camouflaged vehicles – a four-door version for the North American market and a five-door European-spec Focus. Klaus is at the wheel of the European model, while his colleagues sit in the passenger seats studying a laptop displaying the findings of more than 200 sensors placed around the car.

These sensors record a myriad of data, including ambient temperature, AC pressures, engine speed, and sunlight. Chrome-nickel thermo couples are attached to the windows, the seats, the radio, and all around the drivers and passengers, monitoring the temperature throughout the cabin.

One of the main challenges for the team is that customers in North America have different preferences to their European counterparts, so the two test vehicles have different calibrations. North American customers generally like to feel a strong cooling effect while the European customer preference is for the cabin to be cooled slightly less and to not actually feel the chilled air. This is where the team’s experience in subjectively evaluating the system comes in. The sensors can monitor actual data, but the more subjective, human experience of how the cabin feels as it cools is just as important.

While other test teams have to push the car hard on mountain roads, testing the vehicle to its limits, Klaus and his colleagues have a rather more sedate challenge: "Highway driving is the best way to test the climate system. It is not the most interesting road, and after driving several hundred kilometres on the same road for days at a time, it can get a bit boring, but we are not testing the driving dynamics of the car; we need a straight road and a constant speed, so we can concentrate on how the climate system is performing."

After 250km of motorway driving, the two cars pull over outside a small, deserted roadside café. At this time of year, few locals venture outside in the middle of the day, while tourists wisely flock to the beaches and the cooling sea breezes of the Costa del Sol, 100km to the south. Bypassing the shade offered by two large olive trees, the engineers park the vehicles side by side in direct sunlight.

"This is the pull down test," explains Klaus." It’s very important. The vehicles are soaked in the sun for about an hour, until the temperature in the cabin reaches about 60 degrees Celsius. Then we get inside and we drive 30km or so and we see how long it takes to get back down to the chosen comfort point, and we monitor how this process feels inside the car. The first few minutes are really quite uncomfortable, but it’s a great AC system so after just a few minutes it is much more bearable.

Other tests carried out by the engineers include an altitude test and a control curve, where the team changes the temperature settings in the car and then monitors how it feels as the system copes with the changes. As they drive, Klaus and his colleagues are able to directly make changes to the EATC calibration. They have a de-brief every evening to discuss their findings and plan the next day’s testing.

With the vehicles’ cabins cooled back down to a comfortable temperature, it’s time to head back to the motorway for another 150km or so of driving at a constant speed. As the day draws to a close and we near the hotel, a third Focus is pulling away. Klaus explains that they like to test the vehicles at night to take the effects of the sun out of the equation. For Klaus, though, another day’s testing has come to an end.

"Sitting in the car all day is tough, but that is the only thing I don’t enjoy about this job," he enthuses. "We get a lot of people trying to take pictures as we drive along and people are always asking us about the car. But the most important thing for us is that the AC system, which in this all-new Focus is great. That makes our job much easier, not to mention more comfortable."

I really like how good this next gen C-Max looks, cannot wait to see it in the showroom.

Ford Mustang sales numbers have been released for August and to say they are disappointing would be an understatement.  Its been no secret the 2011 Mustangs have not been selling like Ford would have hoped but could they have ever predicted it would be this bad.  Sales have decrease steadily over the past three months and there seems to be no end in sight unless something is done.  I would expect to see larger incentives and more attractive finance rates to try and move more Mustangs as the year comes to a close.  Check below for a complete rundown on August Mustang sales.

Sales of the Ford Mustang for August of 2010 were 5,570 compared to 6,289 from August of 2009 showing a 11.4% decrease in sales from the previous year. Year to date Mustang sales are 53,094 compared to 46,763 for 2009, which is a 13.5% increase.

Month to Month sales took a nose dive as July 2010 sales were 7,489 compared to August 2010 sales of 5,570 which is a 26% decrease.

Taking a look at the competition we see the Chevrolet Camaro sold 6,321 beating out the Mustang yet again and the Dodge Challenger sold just 3,283 units for May.

Based on the popular TVS2300 ROUSHcharger, the 5.0L ROUSHcharger Tuner Kit comes with a 90mm pulley and generates an estimated seven pounds of boost. Included in the kit are 47 lb. fuel injectors, high-flow fuel rails, a high-flow ROUSH air lid, and a twin 60mm throttle body. The heavy-duty ROUSH tensioner is included for the first FEAD belt.

Condition: The wheels are true and round with no curb rash or bent rim. Wheels have been painted black. Paint has flaked and chipped off but no damage to wheel. These were used as winter season wheels and last year’s winter affected the paint. They could use a good clean-up and some respraying.

Still having problems with the wiper system on my 97 Grand Marquis.
First the wipermotor failed. This I replaced and all was ok for a while.

For the past few weeks however the wipers wouldn’t go off if i’d hit the low or high speed setting.
I could switch between the settings however, but the only way to stop them was to cut the power.
Sometimes the wipers would go to the park position when i needed them to work…
8 out of 10 times when I switch to off they won’t go to park at all. Just need to get lucky..

Today I removed the wiper control arm (also the indicator switch arm) from the steering column and opened it up.
Cleaned the complete inside and found 2 wires cut. Resoled those wires, put everything back together and looked how it would operate.

Now the wipers will function normally on all interval settings, low and high settings and will return from these settings as well.
They now however will not go in the park mode..
Whatever I do, they won’t go down anymore.
Still the wipers will remain on and will not go off untill I cut the power when I use the washer fluid setting. (Didn’t know how to describe it otherwise)

So after a long day of trial and much error appearantly I now am stuck.

When I switch between wiper settings I hear loud clicks coming from the middle of the dash, somewhat if there is some short circuiting going on there.
Don’t know if that’s normal or if it should be absolutely silent when operating.

I don’t know what to do anymore about this and if it gets to hard from here I’ll take it to the garage.

When I reached my destination (aprrx 5miles away), I turned the truck off. Let it sit for a min. And then re-started it. No fail-safe light.

It’s been fine since then. Towed my horse trailer this past Friday, no problem. Then towed the trailer again on Sat, and drove the truck a few times since then. But last night, I turned the truck on, and there was the wrench light again! Turned it off, let it sit, then started the engine… And no light…

Any ideas? Could it be functioning as an idiot light? Or should I be concerned?

This is the SJR-SCCA Summer Points Event #7.We get about 8-10 runs in and the average time on course is 35-50 seconds depending on if they want to loop the course inside it self 2-3 times.It is always a great time with a fun bunch of people and a fun course that will push your car to the limits.

Pre-registration is up and at the link below, you DO NOT need to pre-pay so please DO pre-register if you think you’ll be coming to the event and if you can’t make it for some reason it’s no big deal. If you don’t pre-register and then you show up it takes a lot longer to add you and your car to the computer in the morning vs. if you preregister and can’t make it we just need to hit delete and we’re all set. The faster we can get everyone registered, the earlier we can start sending cars which may get you an extra run or two in.

I’m still very interested in the right hand drive bezel package from RRS, particularly because it comes in deluxe brushed aluminum which, for right hand drive, is very hard to come by as it was never produced in RHD from the factory and to date RRS are the only company mass producing deluxe RHD bezels.

This week I received a couple of new photos of the kits and information about a September ’special’. Throughout the month of September you can purchase the RRS RHD dash panel and aluminum bezel (5 pieces) for $AUD2,700 saving a tidy $500 off the normal price.

The 5 piece bezel kit includes:

* Instrument piece
* Middle piece
* Glove box trim piece
* Glove box side piece
* Metal back for the instruments
* Comes with lenses

The RRS site also says “RRS RHD plastic bezels and die-cast air con side vents. The instrument bezel is tooled to allow the LHD instruments to be transferred into RHD bezel. The only detail on the appearance of the Bezels that is not a mirror image is the wiper switch control which remains in the LHD position. The Bezel also allows for the fitment of LHD aftermarket gauges.”

It’s worth noting these are also available in camera case black (standard) and currently there are only RRS dash products for 1967-1968 Mustangs.

Again I’m almost certain I’ll be investing in these when we get the conversion done. In the mean time I’ll be keen to hear your stories if you have installed these RRS dash kits.
