Rear passenger side it looks like a tie rod maybe a little smaller. It comes off just like a tie rod but when I called auto parts stores around me they did not know what I was talking about. Does anybody know the correct name?
My friend says she has all the cd’s for the navigation system for every state except california. Anyone know where i can get one or if a copied one would work?
Hello all – I have a 5.4L engine, I’ve been having a rough idle lately. It feels like stalling when I’m in park, or at a stop. It seems fine when I’m in motion, driving. It’s an intermitting problem, there are days it drives normally. I don’t have a check engine light on. I changed air filter and fuel filter, but no help. What’s next? Oxygen sensor? Spark plugs? Thanks for your help.
Hi guys,

My Expedition just turned over 100,000 and has started making a clatter/rattle when I go up a hill. I can also feel a vibration. If the hill is long enough I will get a THUNK after about 5-10 seconds and it stops. Or, while it is still rattling I can goose it and get the THUNK and it stops. If it is a short hill and there is less than 5 seconds before the top, the rattle just goes away when I get to the crest. It happens both while on cruise and while not, with AC on and off, in 4X4 and not.

I can get it to do it by accelerating on level ground, but not nearly as loud as when going up a hill.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Thanks to much advice on this excellent Forum, my Navigator was serviced and a few bits replaced in the UK, before finally arriving at its new home, here in Spain.

I flew into the UK, caught the Ferry and had a superb, relaxed and comfortable drive South.

BUT……

……….. oh dear, what tiddly, fiddly, pathetic rear indicators it has! Does anyone know of a suitable conversion kit that is available, which will turn the rear indicators into something that can actually be SEEN by other road users?

I can’t believe that in the U S of A, such tiny indicators are acceptable on such a large vehicle – they need to be BIG and BOLD.

Our 2000 4.6L Expedition recently left me stranded an hour and a half away from my house. My buddy and I pulled out the old multimeter and first thing we noticed was the battery posts had great voltage but the terminals had close to none b/c of corrosion. So I replaced the terminals with a buddy and it started and worked great for another day. Now It won’t even get enough power to light the interior lights or unlock the doors. Their is a relay under in the drivers side interior fuse box that is clicking like crazy.

Any advice on what to do next? Replace Relay i’m assuming?

Hello All, a quick post regarding gas mileage. I’m just trying to gauge if something is wrong with the engine causing this. I have a rough idle that I’ve used Techron Fuel system cleaner and have had the throttle body cleaned. Prior to purchasing the Navigator used, they told me they did a tune up. I also have used a performance tuner to increase gas mileage and only use 93 octane.

However, my question and concern is this: The needle moves lower on EVERY trip. Small trips around town or even short highway trips. I mean, if this was my everyday car, I’d probably have to fill up every 2.5 days. Is this normal?? Are there any everyday drivers that use their Navigators and have to fill up 3 times a week?? It’s a 2005 fully loaded Navigator. Please let me know how these soccer moms are driving these things…

Additional info: the MPG readout currently shows 14.7 since the special tuner. Up from 14.3… but still, it doesn’t FEEL like that’s what I’m getting.

Is there a way to check the rear wheel bearings on a 97 expedition? How can you tell if there going bad? Thanks for the help.
I have a very weird sound that I can’t identify. Have a 2009 Expedition. When I drive the car in the morning all is normal until the first time that I accelerate hard. When I do, I hear a noise that sounds like a burp and it sounds like it’s coming from the steering column. Once it does it I can’t get it to do it again until I shut the car off for a couple of hours and start it up again. I don’t sense any performance/steering issues whatsoever. It’s just unnerving each time it happens.

Anybody run into this before?

im trying to replace the lower ball joint but i have to deflate the airbag first, i tried disconnecting the air line on the bag but no luck, any suggestions.
