Can I just swap those? Will a digital unit work where there was previously a analog one, or are wiring, connectors and/or sensors different?
Same question as to A/C control unit manual and automatic..
Thanks!
Noticed today that the cover left of the instrument cluster actually hides a connector. What controls would that be for? Power windows? This car has none, as well as no power door locks for some inexplicable reason. Which is actually why I call it Life on Mars…

I have a 2005 Taurus that has a low idle, it does not surge, it needs to warm up before it will idle at all. The idle is very low and if I give it a quick punch on the gas it will come down and die. It seems it will not come down to normal idle unless I ease the gas down. I seems to run fine when I drive it, just dies when I stop.
Thank you
:help:there’s been a problem with the engine cooling fan that has been taken care of, but it’s still not quite right…the engine temp guage on the dash shows the engine getting hotter than it probably should. so far, i have not let this car over-heat. the cooling fan assembly was just replaced and is working. what would make the engine run hotter than it should…that is, the temp guage is passing the mid-mark and headed for "hot". is it possible that the thermostat also needs to be replaced? if so, what temp thermostat should i put it in…it’s a 3.8 liter engine. or is it possible that since it’s summer and days are very hot (90s to 100s) and traffic exhaust makes it hotter, that the car will simply run hotter? today when the temp guage went past the mid-mark, i turned on the ac just to activate to engine cooling fan, and that brought the temp down. with aluminum heads, i can’t risk over-heating.:whnr:
windshield wipers do not keep going in the intermiting action ok in slow postion or fast
I’m trying to replace the stock casette stereo by a GPS DIN head unit.
Since I can’t get the radio out with the removal tools, no matter what I do (the mechanism is stuck or broken on one side) I was going to remove the surrounding plastic panel.
Now I don’t get further than those 2 screws on the top of the panel. The ashtray assembly underneath appears to be riveted to it, and I can’t see any other screws involved. How do I proceed?
Also I would need to know where I can find the vss and reverse wires.
Thanks!
Hi all
New here< you guys have already helped me diagnose a problem with my daughters 2000 taurus 3.0 it had a 1406 code your info led me to the burned hose on the DPFE it cured some rough running and the CEL is off now. However the fact that it running better revealed some serious lag in the throttle coming off idle it takes a second or more for the engine to react all I get is a sucking sound from the throttle body. Any help is appreciated thanks Crash

I am replacing the AC Compressor on my 03 Taurus. (Compressor Froze). Can I just put the new compressor on then take it to the shop for the AC work or do I need to have it towed… or is there a way to make it drivable for the "back yard mechanic"? ie. Is the vehicle drivable if I simply put the compressor on and put it back together? I dont want to damage the compressor obviously. Any expert words of wisdom on any other issue I may not have considered would be appreciated as well. As it stands right now, the old compressor is off and I’m ready to install the new one. Thanks
I have a 2000 Ford Taurus and my transaxle light started blinking, I put the scanner on it and the code P1724 was 4th gear incorrect ratio. I have changed the transmission fluid and filter but the car will not go into 4th gear or overdrive. If I drive the car in just drive the light will never come on, does anyone know what the problem may be thanks
