i recently picked up a 67 cougar, it has a 71 351W in it. the top of the rocker stud popped off leaving no threads behind. so i died it with a 7/16th die and was unable to pull it as the threads i died would strip once the nut got to the washer. How the heck do i pull this stud Now ?
If I missed a thread I am sorry but I need to replace the worn out yellow headlights in my 1988 XR-7 cougar. I have pulled these apart twice now and polished them but you still just can’t see at night with them. I do not want to spend a fortune but would love to be able to see at night again. Does any one know I can do? Thanks!!:hy:
sup guys my girlfriend just bought a 2002 cougar with like 157K miles on her..i know alot of miles and stuff isnt good for a car but how long do these cougars run? im not much of a rookie at cars sence im hook on my mustang but on cougars idk what to do? please tell me how they should run? its a v6 2.5L and it runs around 2500 rpms at 68 cruise? my 00 mustang runs at 2100rpms now..so is that normal or what? please any help and all suggestions on making better gas mileage or just plain running better! please help!

I drive an ‘84 Cougar LS 3.8 and I’ve recently had problems with some electrical components of my car. It started on a very rainy day, so I just assumed the moisture was causing some kind of problem (not sure why I thought this, since water conducts electricity), but it’s now August and it’s nice and dry. I checked a few fuses today and they were all fine, I cycled the key a few times and it randomly worked maybe 2/10 times and when I started the car it stopped working. The problem still persists and I could really use some help!

Things that aren’t working:
Fuel Gage
Windshield Wipers (and washer fluid dispenser)
Digital Clock
Radio (aftermarket)
Windows

Also, before it went out for good whenever I would open my glove box the clock would shut off and it would come back on once I shut the glove box door again.

Does anyone know anything about what would be involved when putting a manual transmission into a cougar? On mustangs the swap is fairly easy but what about on the cougar? My transmission just failed and im seriously looking at putting a manual in, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

you have to watch this show . this season is incredibly good, there are times when you just have to cry your heart out or laugh out loud! cristina, meredith, alex, and all the mc dreamies and sexies and steamies and… they all take you into another world where you feel great! those actors are extremely talented and i adore every single one of them! the stories are excellent and couldn’t be any more captivating! once you start watching, you can’t stop! this show takes your breath away. and yes, it enriches your life, it really does!

so i just bought it from a friend. it has a few issues. power steering line is leaking like a waterfall. and the alternator fuse has popped. and the sunroof has stopped working. the mechanic suggested selling the car rather then fixing it. repair costs would be to high. so i bought it. ($550 and only 139k miles) im some what mechanically inclined so i can do the work myself. now for starters. the alternator fuse is located on the back side of the motor coming directly off the alternator power line correct? second, do i have to drop the headliner completely to change the sunroof motor? also, the mechanic said i have to drop the subframe/crossmember to get to/change the powersteering line? the one that comes from topside of the motor around the back. and lastly, what does the little wrench light by the sunroof button mean? the light is on and was just wondering.
Hi Gang, I just completed a 25k mile V6 motor swap in the car and is throwing me a few codes. I am using the original trans. with 140k on it, and the car was not drivable when I bought it so I took the chance. I have got Sea Foam trans. treatment in the car but have only driven a few miles. I’ve got Other issues to straighten out before I take it out for a good haul.
Definitely stuck in "limp mode", I assume 3rd gear as it takes a while to get going and won’t upshift. Even force shifting with the lever does nothing.

Codes –
743; torque converter circuit – 750;shift Solenoid A malfunction –
755;Shift Solenoid B malfunction – 1747; Press. control solenoid A circuit shorted – 1744; TCC Solenoid Circuit Range

I would gather these are interrelated to the same replaceable sensor (I hope) but I am not a trans. guy. Any assistance you can send my way would be greatly appreciated.

I am really hopin someone on here can help me out. I just purchased a 1999 cougar, and everything is near mint, however the lady informed me that last year tranny fluid leaked from the "thing that holds the fluid in" in her words. She’s not a car buff. I assumed maybe the pan or plug?? She had it fixed TWICE by the ford dealer. The first time she said they cleaned it as it was coroded, and she also said they "rounded the edges" whatever that means, I’m not sure. It leaked again on her, so she took it back and the second time they JB welded it, and she said it didn’t leak on her since. She didn’t drive it much and stored it in a garage for the winter. However, when I was driving it home upon buying it, I had a stop and noticed trans fluid in the passenger wheel well. Upon further inspection I saw trans fluid all over the underneath of the front of the car, and smoking off of the exaust. I checked the fluid, and it wasn’t out by any means, so I got it home. I am by no means a mechanic, so could you guys please give some input on this problem. Do you think it’s the part she had problems with? Or something else???

i recently tried installing a head unit in my car and when i took out the old wiring harness to install the new one the power locks and trunk and gas tank door wont work none of the buttons will work not even on the key ring it still engages the alarm but wont lock the doors how do i fix this problem and still install the new unit cause that wont turn on either now how do i fix this someone help me please
