, saturday morning i went to a meeting at work and i noticed my stereo
system was acting strange (started cutting out) then it came back on fine
after the meeting i went back home and didnt drive the rest of the day,
i started to head to work about 6pm and the stereo was acting funny
again, this time i just turned it off and decided to worry about it later, i
stoped for gas and left my car running when i got back in all my gauges
were dead but car was still running, i got to work turned it off and it would
not start again, so i assumed it was the altenator, i jumped her off and
drove str8 to the auto parts store and had them check the battery and
sure enough they said the altenator was bad, so i bought a new one
called in at work (pizza delivery driver) and went home to replace the
altenator, it was a real pain changing it out but we got it done, cranked
it up and everything seemed fine, i drov around all day today and didnt
have one problem, once the sun went down tho and i had to turn my
lights on, i noticed that when at idle my headlights would dim and my
a/c fan would start blowing softer than normal, when i hit around 2200
rpms the lights would brighten and the a/c would blow normal… then
i had a long distance run and i got up to around 4000 rpms and my
gauges started acting crazy all 4 of them would go all the way to the right
then to zero until i returned to around 2200 rpms and the battery light
would flicker, this continued for a couple more runs then happend once
more and my check engine light came on, also i will add that everything
else electrical worked fine (headlights, signal lights, stereo, etc)….
the engine seems to be running fine no weird sounds or fluctuations at
idle or at higher rpms… im gonna go have the codes checked in the
morning and im gonna have the altenator checked too… but i wanted
to see if i could get some input so i ca have a head start on the repair…
